Dallas Stars Organization Responds to Allegations Against GM

2013-05-30

Recently rumours surfaced of the Dallas Stars organization relieving General Manger Mark O'Byrne of his long-served post in the Stars hockey club.  Attending business matters, GM O'Byrne was not immediately available for response, and the club released a statement on his behalf;

"We are releasing this statement solely to address the allegations made against our general manager Mark O'Byrne, so this will be short.

Untrue.

The rumours put ahead by Boston Bruins manager Steven Valente are unfounded and polar opposite of how we feel here in Dallas, and just an attempt to gain leverage at the draft table. Mr O'Byrne will continue to build this team, and we are already seeing the fruits of his smart deisions, decisions which we stand by.

Thank you,

Dallas Stars Public Relations Team"

When reached for comment, Mark O'Byrne only had this to say; "A desperate GM trying to distract the league from a possible playoff loss. Best of luck to the teams still alive, see you at the draft".

Armed with ten picks at this point heading in to the draft, it will be interesting to see what type of deals O'Byrne will make leading up to the draft. Team sources say Jeff Skinner, Tomas Vanek, Ryan Ellis, and Ben Scrivens have all been linked to serious trade discussions.
