Ducks go Quakers

2019-07-30

Sitting in his comfy chair hours before the draft lottery. Ducks Gm Kevin Reynolds looked over all his options. Compared to last years 10 picks in the first two rounds, this year seemed a little blah. Only having two picks in all five rounds will do that, so Kevin thought theres gotta be something that can be done.

Up untill that moment he was quietly going to snatch up Hughes or Kappo and be on his merry way. But then he remembered that he forgot to return a message to Detroit GM Austin Evans about a potential swap of picks. Time was running short so a quick message was sent back in hopes of a response in time " get your best offer in" was what was said.

Boom Ten minutes later with some panic tinkering right up untill the last second the deal was done. The 2nd overall was turned into the 3rd overall, two prospects and two 2nds. It was a big risk on Kevin's part but his team was in need of many pieces going forward, not just one.

Just as the deal was finalized the Ducks were called immediately to the podium to make there selection. With the 3rd overall the Ducks proudly selected from the Vancouver Giants of the WHL, defensive phenom Bowen Byram. Then early in the 2nd Ducks quickly scooped up the hockey writers pick for steal of the draft from the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL Bobby Brink.

Hours would pass and as the rest of the draft unfolded two names were still there that the Ducks were interested in. The draft was winding down and getting close to the end. So Mr. Reynolds jumped into action. Sending out messages to multiple Gm's trying to get a 4th for a 3rd in the following draft. But to no avail, not one gm would budge. The end was getting closer, so panic was setting in. What to do what to do. Go big or go home was the message that popped in the head. A quick message was sent and heres were the controversy begins. The Ducks make a trade with the Florida Panthers... A 2nd rounder was sent for a 4th and and yes the very last pick of the draft. Gasps were heard, Boo's were said and Wtf's were a plenty. Then the Ducks stepped to the Podium and announced... With the 120th overall pick the Ducks select from the North Bay Battalion of the OHL and Captain Justin Brazeau and with the final pick of the night at 150 select from the London Knights and very underated player Kevin Hancock.... Boo's and WTF's quickly change to words like intriguing and from one GM can be heard simply "Brilliant".  Two Players Ducks Gm Kevin Reynolds would of gladly taken with late 2nd rounders each, were taken with one measly 2nd from the following year... MUHAHAHA
