Washington Off Season (Part 1)

2021-06-30

Washington Capitals have been pretty active this off season. Gm Slocum has a total of made eight deals. He has sent out six players/prospects and six draft picks. In return for those assets, he received twelve players/prospects and two picks. He started cleaning up the future with releasing three prospects; Daniel Bernhardt(Y:2015-O:150), Martins Dzierkals(Y:2015-O:79), and Zachary Lauzon(Y:2017-O:47), that seemed to be better suited selling used cars than playing pro hockey. Sadly he lost Alex Goligoski to the expansion draft and bought out Frans Neilsen. However, that also meant a reduction of $11,500,000 of annual salary.

There still is a lot to do to the roster to be ready for the upcoming season. The defense still needs to find a replacement for Goligoski and all of the RFAs need to be resigned and a back up goalie needs to be found. Overall GM Slocum hopes that his actions have made significant improvements to the team and that we can compete this season and made improvements to the future of the organization.
