Defense is KING in Washington 2022-04-02 It appears that the Washington Capitals are collecting defensemen. Currently the pro and farm teams have eight defensemen on each of their rosters. Normally I would think this is truly too many to have, but if you look into the contracts that these 16 players have you see the reason for having this many defensemen. The contracts for these sixteen players include six that will be free agents at the end of this season. With very little in to prospect pool for the Capitals the remaining defensemen under contract will cover the pro and farm rosters next season. So I guess you could say I have already signed my FA defensemen for the up coming season. Now if I can add forwards via the draft and free agency, maybe Washington can be a playoff team that truly deserves to make the playoffs.
