The Hurricanes are coming off an impressive playoff run especially considering the fact that they were the worst team in the league the year before. GM Cameron Grewal made the decision to trade some youth to help the team now by trading for the Sedins. Power forward Nathan Horton signed with Hurricanes during free agency saying, “I feel I have the best chance at winning the cup in Carolina”. GM Cameron Grewal made the tough call of trading away star Alex Semin to land Loui Eriksson to get under the salary cap. Semin was the career leader of the Carolina Hurricanes in almost every category. Ryan Clowe decided to come back to Carolina after being dealt to the Florida Panthers just before the trade deadline day. On defense the Hurricanes made a trade for Fedor Tyutin who will be on the first paring with veteran Sheldon Souray. Ehrhoff is hoping to repeat his 50 point season and Dmitry Kulikov hopefully will be more consistent this year. Patrick Wiercioch has earned right to play with pro club this year and new comer Nate Prosser will be pencilled in for the opening night roster. In net, Corey Crawford is coming off a strong year winning the Bill Masterton Trophy last year. Jeff Frazee has moved up to be back up goalie.
