Shakeup In Carolina

2017-10-04

Raleigh, NC.

The off-season has been a quiet up until now for Hurricanes General Manager, Matthew Rose. That is, until today. Just a few days ago, rumours swirled out into the media of a possible trade involving Seth Jones. Today, they were confirmed as Rose has just met with the press to announce the acquisition of Adam Henrique, Olli Maatta, and Shayne Gostisbehere for Seth Jones and Stefan Matteau.

"Any transaction where you lose a guy like Seth hurts. Unfortunately, this business doesn't take personal relationships and feelings into account. We feel that last season we had one of the deeper blue lines in the league and this move has actually made us stronger. Maatta and Ghost are going to be on our blue line for years to come and I feel that they both make up for the loss of Seth. Adding Henrique was actually icing on the cake as we feel we have acquired a great 2nd line center with the potential to be our #1 guy in the future" Rose stated during the briefing.

"I think this an even trade that benefits both teams as we're not left with any holes on the blue line and have added at center. I'd go as far to say as, in terms of depth, we have a deeper defense corps today than we did yesterday. I want to thank Todd for his professionalism in negotiations and I'm excited that we were able to agree to terms that benefitted both organizations" Rose added.

"I've said it before", Rose continued, "my mandate from the start of my tenure was to develop a winning culture in Carolina so that we are in a place for continued success. There was much criticism over the lack of moves made during free-agency to build our team back up from where we were but I feel that this transaction makes up for that".

Who knows how this move will play out for the Hurricanes, but it did give them some more MRFHL-ready youth and the future looks bright. Although Rose wasn't able to rob Chicago in this deal (such as he did with the Rangers in the Parise deal and the Blue Jackets in the Daniel Sedin trade), it looks like this move fits into his goal of creating sustained success in this organization. Oh, and it might help put a few more butts in seats this season too!

Season tickets this year include a complimentary Hurricanes scarf and 10% discount on concessions. Don't miss out on these deals as we #ROCKTHERED together this season!

It's the #Redvolution and you get a free hat on opening night in the real world. Gonna do it, do it right lmao. (And no, you didn't Rob me with the Sedin deal). :P
