Cherry starts to retool Canucks

2015-01-27

It is easy to say that the Canucks are having a disappointing season to date.  After being one goal away from winning the Cup their play this season has been underwhelming.  They currently sit at the bottom of their division, an unfamiliar position for this organization.  The off season did see many changes happen as they attempted to bring some more youth into the organization.  Team consultant Don Cherry suggested to acquire some more gritty and reliable players.

Today they decided to make a significant trade that they are hoping will right the ship in the rigtht direction. GM Di Antonio pulled the trigger on a deal with Toronto that brings back two familiar faces in Henrik Lundqvist and Chris Pronger. Both played prominant rolls on previous Canucks teams.  Going the other way is Cory Schneider, Brad Stuart, Joel Edmundson, Logan Shaw and a 2nd round pick. The GM is hoping the move can bring some stability to the roster.  Both Lundqvist and Pronger know how to play in the clutch.  Don Cherry gave the thumbs up to the deal saying that "Pronger is a good Canadian kid!". We will see heading into the all star break if this move was the right one for this team.
