Grand-Larsson

2012-02-02

The Boston Bruins GM continues to make waves in Beantown leading up to the trade deadline. In an unexpected twist the Bruins move some of their best talent.

Earlier in the week Boston shipped PK Subban a 3rd and 5th round pick for Travis Hamonic and a 1st round pick. The Bruins continued to shake things up in the most unlikely way by moving highly touted winger Evander Kane , Stefan Elliot and Danny Kristo to Ottawa in exchange for Alexander Burmistrov, Adam Larsson, prospect Carl Klingberg and a 3rd round pick. “Earlier this week we had some constructive trade discussions around Evander Kane but at that time we felt we weren’t getting what we were looking for”.  GM Valente and Prach continued negotiations throughout the week. Both teams were after specific players. The inclusion of highly coveted Adam Larsson into the deal ensured the Bruins were able to get what they wanted from the beginning. “Its no secret, we love the kid. We didn’t expect him to be available but after Ottawa made him available we knew we needed to get this deal done”.  The Bruins seemed to be focusing their efforts on improving their defensive deficiencies with the last couple of trades.  This could be a trend in the days leading up to the trade deadline.

Rumor Mill: Despite the string of trades the Bruins still has the skill to move into a playoff position. Similar to last year the Bruins aren’t known to be shy to pull the trigger on a trade (even if they are in a playoff race). Last year the Bruins were one of the busiest leading up to the deadline and still solidified a playoff berth. Expect more movement in the coming weeks.
