Capitals quiet at the deadline

2012-05-07

Would just like to thank Steve V for his writeups for each team per conference but Mr. Bodybreak himself(he knows the joke from msn pic lol) was incorrect on the goalie situation. Giguerre has been our guy from the start of the season and we werent about to make changes to disrupt the team chemistry. Nobody predicted us to rebuild this quickly and it had to be done in a certain way where i could not lose too much cash at the same time, while staying as close to the minimum cap floor as possible. Funds were the other reason why we couldnt absorb big contracts... we'll make some extra cash(which we havent seen yet) for participating in votes and activities, but it's going to take a lot more to sign some big names and not bust out.

The top line is our bread and butter this year, so we have to put the pressure solely on them, as well as our backend. The team plays run and gun hockey and thats ok in our books.... We set the bar nice and low , so we werent disappointed at season's end... since we've been winning and scoring alot , we're ok with going with what we have.. why mess with something that is working...

Next season should give us a few more boosts, with Radulov(who will most likely be traded) Simmonds, franzen, wheeler and kennedy re-rating better... we'll hope we can land another vet in free agency, and continue to look for the pieces to get this team over the hump..

at 40 wins already this year, its gonna be close to see if we can hold off th eothers around us... after the rangers, the competition level drops and hopefully we can pick up some easy wins to get into the post season for the first time under GM Vonk's reign.....
