Tampa deadline moves and serious injury!

2012-05-11

Tamap Bay, FL, (AP)-  The trade deadline has come and gone and the Tampa Bay Lightning made a couple of moves. The club was looking to aquire some offence and the aquired forward Wotjek.Wolski from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Right winger Anthoney Stewart. Stewart posted 10 goial and 4 asissts in his time here, but the club was looking to add more scoring to the line up and they feel Wolski can provide more then Stewart now and into the future.  Wolski is a player we've always liked,  he has battled injury woes the last couple of seasons but he has had surgery and should come back to his scoring ways. Stated Gm Zelichowski  Wolski is only 25 yrs old and there is lots of hockey left in him, he has proven in the past he can produce and we hope that he gets that touch back here in Tampa.

The only other move the club made was a future move with the Dallas Stars, the deal saw the Lightning ship highly touted prospect Right winger Carter.Ashton to the Stars in return the Lightning aquirerd a 2013 First round draft pick of Vancouvers which the Stars obtained and up and coming Defencemen Michael Stone. We did like what we seen in Ashton but we also like what we see in the youngster Stone and we wanted to add some young defence prospects to the fold. The future is looking bright in Tampa, next season should see a handfull of youngster battle at camp for positions in the line-up.

The club has surprised this year playing some very good hockey and currently holding down a playoff spot. We have a solid defence here and two stellar netminders guarding the twine. Unfortunaltly the club suffered a serious blow as Captain and the clubs scoring leader went down with a serious injury which has put him on the self considerable length of time.  Somebuddy is going to have to step it up, we'll never replace David but as a unit they are going to have to work harder then ever Stated Gm Zelichowski.  It is not certain that he'll even be available come playoff time which really posses concerns. Teams go through this all the time and the hope is that another player comes in, or steps up and fills the void. Fans are excited as the playoffs approach and we look forward to the rest of the regular season and the battle of the playoffs.
