Bruin's Shake It Up

2013-01-27

As the Boston Bruins sit just outside a playoff spot Bruins GM Valente has opted to trade star goaltender Ryan Miller.  The city of Boston has become disenchanted with the All-Star goaltender whom has been openly criticized by the media and coach for allowing in soft goals at critical times in games. With the departure of Ryan Miller, the Bruins have brought in a younger, hungrier goaltender in Ondrej Pavelec whom comes with his own off ice baggage, but on ice play has been nothing but stellar. Ondrej was recently charged with driving under the inflence during the NHL lock out but the Buffalo Sabres made it clear his days were numbered. Along with Pavelec the Bruins will recieve a 1st and 3rd round pick in Year 8 and send promising young defencemen Jonathan Blum to Buffalo.

In speaking to GM Valente, he had this to say " We made a deal which makes sense to both us (Boston) and Buffalo. We needed to shake up our locker room and turn this ship around"

With this move the Bruins also recieve some additional cap relief and it is expected they will use it to aquire top-notch defender to play with the likes of Shea Weber and push others down the depth chart. In recent weeks Weber's name has come up in many trade discussions and it would be a shocker to see the prized defencemen switch to another organization GM Valente is not shy to make moves which he feels will help the organizations long term goals of winning a MRFHL Cup.
