Massive Shake Up: Boston Trade the Sedins

2013-06-19

After bowing out of the first round in the MRFHL Playoffs it took less than a month for the Boston Bruins General Manager to make a statement. Last night it was announced that the Sedin twins, Henrik and Daniel were heading to Buffalo in exchange for Derek Roy, Bryan Little and Dimitri Kulikov.  The Boston sports media is referring the Sedins as victims of circumstance.  “We value the time they spent in Boston and the memories they provided this city however it was time to give other guys a shot.”  Despite having an incredible post season, the writing was on the wall with John Tavares emerging as a top line pivot.  With the addition of Kyle Turris, the center position became crowded.  It seemed that the Boston Bruins had too much money locked up at centre and the recent playoff exit exposed their need to address other areas. The additions of Roy, Little and Kulikov provide the Bruins with just that - more depth. “We feel that next year John Tavares will be ready to take over 2nd line duties and anchor the power play unit.”  There is no doubt the Boston Bruins are not finished making move thus far. It is expected that they will continue to make changes to their roster, just short of what some consider “cleaning house”.   It is speculated that the Bruins GM is keeping all options open regarding the future makeup of his roster. “We want to win and we feel we can win. We just need to find the right combination.”
