Canucks make big moves.

2013-11-03

The Canucks have been tweaking their rosters all off season but not of the changes were as drastic as their recent trade.  They moved one of if not the best scorer in the game, Alex Ovechkin, along with Brian Boyle and Nathan Gerbe, to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Zach Parise, Brad Marchand, Devante Smith-Pelly, A prosepect and 1st round pick.  There is no way to replace a player like Ovechkin but the Canucks felt the players they acquired gives them excellent depth throughout the organization.

Earlier that day the Canucks also acquired Chris Pronger.  Although he has had some health issues of late, when healthy Pronger is still a game changer.  He will join a powerful top 4 with Shea Weber, Brent Seabrook and Dan Girardi.  This move also lead to the Canucks moving Johnny Boychuk to the Flyers in exchange for Jonathan Blum, Wade Redden and a pick.

Based on their current cap situation it would seem that the Canucks are not done making moves.  Could more big players be packing their bags?  Only time will tell.
