Big Bad Bruins are Back!

2010-08-27

Newly aquire Nathan Horton was formally introduced to the media today. The new B's forward spoke on Thrusday, and he described that opportunity as a dream come true.

Horton is listed as a center, but said he is more comfortable at right wing, which is where the Bruins plan on playing him. Bruins GM Steven Valente called him a "shooter who plays a power game."

He has 142 goals in 492 games, but has not lived up to the expectations that came when he was selected third in 2003. But he's only 25-years-old and has scored at least 20 goals in each of the past five seasons, topping out at 31 in 2006-07.

GM Steven Valente has been re-tooling the Bruins bringing in players who provide a dynamic to the Bruins that was lost in recent years. With the addition of Nathan Horton at 6 ft 2" and Dustin Byfuglien at 6 ft 3" at a staggering 246 pounds,  he was able to create a physical presence up front.

"We are not going to be pushed around. We want other teams to know when they come to Boston its not going to be an easy night" said GM Valente. When asked if he was going to make any additional moves he said that he would only be looking to "tweak" a couple of things but has no immediate plans on making a big splash.
