Meet the Cubs

2010-10-26

C - Mikael Backlund

The Boston Bruins are excited about the development of this first round pick in 2007 (24th)  Backlund is a player Boston will be relying upon to move up the depth chart to provide an offensive spark in the next few years.

“We truly believe that Mikael has an elite skill-set and is a premier playmaker. Bruins will be looking for Backlund to establish himself in the upcoming season.

C - Joe Colborne

This is one of the Bruins most raw talented prospects. A prototypical Bruin with a huge frame. At a towering 6’5 Colborne needs to continue to fill out in order to compete at the NHL level.

“We want to make his (Colborne) transition from college to the NHL a  smooth one. We feel he can continue to dominate at the NHL level as he has done previously in college.”

Many scouts tout Colbornes style as a finesse-based playmaker but continues to develop his goal-scoring ability.

LW - Drayson Bowman

Drayson Bowman possesses a lethal shot, which he does not hesitate to use. “We think he can be a special player for us in the future. With that said wee still feel there are parts of his game we would like to see him develop before we see him in in the big leagues.” Bowman will need to work on further development of his game - mainly when he doen't have the puck.

C- Jacob Josefson

Recently acquired with David Jones for Dustin Byfuglien, the Bruins have high hopes for Josefson. “ We really like his two-way game and feel he isn’t too far off from being NHL ready.” The Bruins have a clear long term plan. Acquiring Josefson provides them with a prototypical two-way forward waiting in the wings.

C- Riley Nash

Riley Nash is one of the most reliable players in every part of the rink. The Bruins think that Nash has plently of upside. “We love his game. He can do it all. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty digging for loose pucks, has a sound cycle game and is developing his offensive game." The Bruins will continue to keep their eye on the progress of Nash's development within the next year.
