Senators on top of the standings 2010-11-14 (AP) The Ottawa Senators have established themselves as a solid contender this year, jockeying back and forth out of first place in the Eastern Conference. "We're winning a good number of 2-1 and 3-2 contests, largely attributable to a balanced scoring attack, top drawer defense, and solid goaltending from Brian Elliott," multimillionaire team owner Gary Brown told reporters. The offense has been paced by the three top centers, Nicklas Backstrom, Matt Stajan, and Stephen Weiss, while the blueline has been anchored by young team captain Drew Doughty. Elliott has been stellar thus far into the season, winning nine games with two shutouts. "Once again, I received yet another trade inquiry for Drew Doughty. Once again, my pat response is that the Bruins wouldn't have traded Orr, the Islanders wouldn't have traded Potvin, and we sure as hell ain't going to trade Drew Doughty," Brown said.
