Boston Bruins Press Release

2011-07-19

The Boston Bruins have wasted little time in making off season moves. In a press release this morning the Boston Bruins have announced they have decided to part ways with Cory Clouston after a disappointing playoff run. Despite finishing the regular season strong with a winning record of 52-30-4 and 108 points, the Boston Bruins failed to translate that into playoff success.

With an increasingly young roster it appears the Bruins GM are in the midst of a accelerated building plan to turn the organization into a perennial contender. Despite his success it seems that Cory Clouston just didn’t fit into the organizations plans.

“We appreciated everything that Clouton has done for the Bruins organization this year and we wish him the best on his future endeavors” the Boston Bruins GM Valente went on to suggest the search to fill the coaching job will continue throughout the summer with names like Guy Carbonneau, Tom Renney, Ted Nolan, Craig Ramsay and Bob Hartley as potential candidates tossed around.

Its likely that GM Valente will wait until after the MRFHL 2011 Entry Draft and Free Agency period before conducting interviews. “We have a busy summer ahead of us and we want to make a couple more additions over the summer. Once the dust settles will get more time to assess the team and find a replacement for Cory.”

Since the Bruins were booted out of the first round playoffs by the New York Islanders, the Bruins GM has made it clear he is looking to address some of the shortcomings and will be busy leading up to the Entry Draft and throughout the summer.
