Oilers take 2-0 Series Lead!

2009-04-05

The Edmonton Oilers came into Denver for the 1st round of the Playoffs, as the Colorado Avalanche had home Ice advantage. But the Oilers who came into the playoffs on a roll, went into Denver and Took both games in Colorado to go up in the Series 2-0.  They will Return back to Edmonton with a great lead in the Series and hope to go for the Sweep in Edmonton. But anything can happen, they can't take the Aves lightly because they are a good team and will be playing with alot of passion in Edmonton they will desperatly need a win next game.

The Story of the Series is not Evgeni Malkin. Who has played o.k. But It's the 2nd line that is doing some damage in the 1st 2 Games.  Jason Spezza leads the team with 6 points, Ryan Smyth as 5 points and Shane Doan has 4 points, making for a very effective 2nd Line.  They have been hot and are a big reason why the club is up 2-0 in the Series.  It is great to get them going and have potential scoring from other lines. If that happens the Oilers have a good chance at advancing to the Next Round.  Malkin, Heatly and Hemsky make up the 1st line, so if they get rolling offensively too, the Oilers will be in pretty good shape.
