Oilers off to Hot Start

2009-10-29

The Oilers are off to a hot start this season in the MRFHL.  The Oilers lost there first 2 games, but then went on to win 8 games in a row.  They were hoping to keep extending the winning streak, however Cam Ward needed a rest and Tellqvist got the start last night. However the Oilers were taking on the Atlanta Thrashers who are seated 1st int he Eastern Confernce.  The Outcome wasn't good as the Oilers got outshut and drilled by the Thrashers 7-3.

"Well It was my choice to play Tellqvist, We wanted to save Ward for tonight against the Wild.  Tellqvist could of been better, but he hasn't had alot of playing time this year.  We are still off to a great start, and We will put this loss out of our heads and concentrate on tonights matchup, and hope to build another Winning Streak." Says GM Schurman.

Cam Ward is 5th Overall in G.A.A with a 2.40 Average. He has been huge for Edmonton So far this year, while he has a .908 Save %.

The Oilers have been getting alot of offense from everyone to start the year. Which is great to see.  Heatley and Malkin Duo have been dangerous for The oilers. Both players lead the team with 12 points and have showed great chemistry to start the year.
