Senators close to an agreement with Gaborik

2012-07-29

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Reports out of Ottawa late last night suggest that new Senators GM Todd Westacott is very close to making his first move in resigning sniper Marion Gaborik who is set to hit the open market later today as an Unrestricted Free Agent. It is believed that an agreement is being held up only by the number of years involved and not the financial terms. A new contract with Gaborik would allow the Senators fan base to breath a sigh of relief as they have a number of players set to become free agents this afternoon. There is still no news surrounding new agreements with Restricted Free Agents Paul Stastny and Alex Kangas although it is believed that Qualifying Offers have been extended to both players.
