Jets Acquire Jonathan Quick
2013-11-13Pending League Approval...
The Winnipeg Jets have acquired Franchise Goalie Jonathan Quick from the Florida Panthers. The Deal came at the expense of a highly touted prospect Jonathan Drouin. The Deal sent Devan Dubnyk and Jonathan Drouin to the Panthers in exchange for Quick and a 3rd Rounder in 2015.
"It was tough to give up a great prospect in Drouin, he's got superstar status written all over him. But has to prove it as well. With that said, Our organization had a need for a true Elite Franchise Goalie. Jonathan Quick has proven to be that goalie in the past and knows what it takes to win a championship. He's only 27 and has alot of playing time left. The club was not confident in Dubnyk being able to become a true starter in this league, and while we have a great young goalie in Vasilevski, he's gonna be a few years aways before making an impact in this league. Dubnyk had to go in this deal, for salary reasons. We did not need him with the club no more. We wish him the and Drouin the best in Florida and we Can't wait to get Quick dressed up in a Jets Uniform." Says Schurman
Rumours have it that the Jets may tweak there roster a bit more yet. If any interest, let the GM know.
Just to let the league know Nathan MacKinnon will not be going anywhere. We traded 1 young stud, we are gonna keep MacKinnon in the fold.
