The Winnipeg Jets and the Detroit Red Wings have just completed a huge Blockbuster deal that sends Elite RW Nikita Kucherov to the Jets.

Heres the deal:

 

To Jets:  Kucherov, P.Russel, Jenner, N.Nordgren
To Wings:  E.Lindholm, Teravainen, Zboril, Steenbergen

 

Huge buzz out of Winnipeg after this move.  The Jets who were expected to be a contender this season have been slipping in the standings.  They are 3-7-0 in there last 10 gaes, however only 8 points back from a division lead, or 5 pts back of 3rd.  

"There is still lots of time, but i did not like how things were going with the Jets in the last month.  Needed to make a move before it was to late. Hopefully this will spark the team back up.   Getting an elite player like Kucherov is always rare.  Hes capable of over a 100 pts a year.  He will be slotted beside MacKinnon.  Another option on that line is Draisaitl at LW.  Having them 3 out on the PP should be deadly hopefully."  Says Schurman

 

Kucherov does have 50% of his salary retained, so the Jets will have a bit of room to add a rental this year yet if needed.  Jenner his a very good top 6 forward who is versatile.  He will probably take the 2nd line Center spot to start for the Jets and could have Draisaitl on his wing to spread out some of the elite talent up front for the Jets.   Zboril and Steenbergen were Prospects starting drop down the ranks in the Jets Franchise.  P.Russell is a decent 3rd/4th line player and Nordgren is a specc with some speed who may be able to crack the lineup one day.  

 

"With these moves i got the option for a few different line ups.   Probably will start with Leon on Line 2 with Jenner and Eberle, but there is a potential to line up our big guys on the 1st line with Draisaitl - MacKinnon - Kucherov.
