Wahington Capitals Press Release (5/28/2021)

The Washington Capitals have been informed by two of their finest players that they do not want to go through a rebuild with the new administration.  Goalie Mark-Andre Fleury and Forward Yanni Gourde have requested that GM Slocum trade them as soon as possible.  Fleury. age 36 and Gourde, age 29 both are signed through the 22-23 season indicated that they enjoyed their time in Washington, but want to be in the playoffs and compete for the Stanley Cup and it appears to them that isn't going to happen with the Capitals for a while.  GM Slocum was unhapply that the two players have gone public with their request to be traded, but will do all he can to satisfy their request to be moved.  "But let me make this very clear, we will NOT be giving them away.  If we cannot find a deal that helps the Washington Capitals these boys will be right here in Washington." GM Slocum said.
