The Leader and the first Knight

2021-06-10

Las Vegas,NV- The Golden Knights have found the man that will lead them and behind the bench with be Hall of Famer Mark Recchi. Many thought that a more experienced coach would be named with a guy like Lindy Ruff out there. However, it is now know that GM Hubacher’s personal love for Mark Recchi was evident when at the Press conference he got chocked up and said “That’s Mark Recchi over there and hes with us” ala when Sabre owner Terry Pegula say Gilbert Perrault. Stu Barnes who many believe fits the Hubacher style of play better will lead the AHL affiliate in Henderson. It will be interesting how the inexperience of the coaching staff will effect the outcome in the inaugural year.

More news broke at the press conference as it has come to light that the first Knight has been acquired from Minnesota in prospect defensemen Drew Helleson with an unnamed player to be selected in the expansion draft. Hubacher did say we will have to wait for the expansion draft to show who that player is many have started speculating. Many think it will be some sort of a cap dump situation with people leaning Erik Gustaffson, JVR or maybe even John Klingberg. Many don’t think that’s the route the Wild want as those 3 would help them a lot and they dotn need the cap space that badly, maybe there is a young player they don’t mind losing? Would Helleson be enough to take say Brandon Lemeuix,Ryan Donato, Mathieu Joseph? All NHL guys all can easily be replaced. What if Minny is just crazy enough to be a nice guy and send one of the young goalies in Georgiev,Nedeljokvic or what if some sort of sign and trade with Koskinen? There is a certain NHl player from acattaraugus county town know for their corn festival that GM Hubacher would drive though on his way to his grandparents house....Could there be multiple small pieces going over?

Drew Helleson is a Big reliable d man who is confident in both ends of the ice and has top 4 potential. What hurts his path to the nhl after being selected in the 2nd round of the 2019 NHL draft? The fact that he was draft by the Colorado Avalanche who just in the prospect pool right handed D men ahead of him are Connor Timins and Justin Barron, I mean they could get rid of that bum Cale Makar I suppose. But its looking like he is either a couple years away of cracking the NHL lineup unless he is moved somewhere. Drew will be heading back to BASSSSton College for his junior year.

Another smaller move was made as a sixth round pick to Tampa Bay for the UFA rights to Tyler Johnson was made to be 1 of 3 UFA slots…. Unless he is moved elsewhere which is a possibility. GM Hubacher said that the value was definitely there to take Johnson who plays all 3 forward spots and plays the two way game Hubacher likes.

Vegas seems very open and willing to discuss any and all deals, it is still not exactly known if they are trying to build an instant winner or going for a long term build. Come on down and work a deal with GM Hubacher.
