Washington Capitals Shuffle the deck

2021-11-17

After ten games into the season the Washington Capitals shuffled their roster.  Earlier in the week the Capitals send Danton Heinen and Richard Panik to the Vegas Knights .  Then the y followed that up by sending Braydon Coburn, Oskar Lindblom and Jakob Silfverberg to the Los Angles Kings. These two transactions brought back Tyler Pitlick, Zach Sanford, Matthew Nieto, Tomas Tatar, and Travis Hamonic.  New GM Slocumisn't sure taht anyone won either of these transactions, but after ten games the team, quite frankly, STUNK!  They couldn't defend their goal for both five on five or the penalty kills.  There is hope that Hamonic and Pitlick can help improve that.   Also, Silfverberg had a fair amount of assists but no goals, and for a star player, oone of the few the Caps have, to not put the puck in the net wasn't acceptable.  GM Slocum believe s that Tatar will help inccrease our goal production.

The Capital have no idea if this is the solution to get tehm to be a competitive team or not, but the roster needed to be changed,  On a VERY SHORT-TERM basis, the new roster did provide a 6-4 win over a really good Edmonton team.  Not sure if this is going to be the answer, only time will tell.
