Jets Mid Way Report
2026-01-11The Jets are just over half way through there season, having played 43 games. They Sit 3rd in their Division with 57 pts, 3 points back of 1st place in the Divison with 2 games on hand. Overall, they are 8th in the league and only 5 points back of the Ducks for 1st place in the whole league.
"That won't last long, where coming for that spot and the Ducks won't last long there!" Grinned GM Schurman.
The Jets have had alot of depth Scoring throughout the Season, as no one is really running away with a lot of points. However the Club has had a good half of the season, and showing that the line up of this club can get the job done. Draisaitle and McLeod lead this team with 35 points, while MacKinnon has 33 points. The Goaltending duo has been solid. Skinner has posted 20 Wins, 2.11 G.A.A. and a .927 Save Percentage. While Lankinen has a 2.30 G.A.A and .915 Save Percentage in his 9 games.
The Jets have really only had 1 big injury and that was Ryan Suter. He has missed the last 23 games due to an ankle injury. However That did not hurt the club, Olle Zelleweger came in and has played really good.
"He's gonna be hard to scratch when Suter comes back" Says Schurman.
As for Roster Moves... The Jets were maxed right to the Cap, it's pretty hard to make trades, as the Jets can't take on any Salary. So what you see right now is damn near what you get, and with the Caps playing well, GM Schurman is content to keep his roster right now. We will see if that changes before the Trade deadline.
The Jets were able to make one move however recently. The Islanders and Jets made a move about a week ago. The Jets sent UFA Connor Brown and prospect Cameron Schmidt to the Islanders in exchange for Vasily Podkolzin, and a 5th rounder in the upcoming draft.
"Brown we liked alot, but we were not gonna be able to sign him to an extension, and we have had our eye on Podkolzin for a while. He's hard to knock off the puck, great work effort, has speed and can hit. Retrieves pucks really well. He's a Restricted Free Agent. So we will be looking to lock him up and keep him in Winnipeg for a good amount of years hopefully. " Says Schurman.
