Canucks Add Stamkos

The Canucks thought they had a good opportunity to acquire Steven Stamkos from division rival Calagary Flames but he was sent to the Rangers instead.  Afterwards the Canucks GM then had a short discussion with the Rangers GM to congratulate him on the new addition.  When the Rangers GM heard what the Canucks were willing to move to acquire Stamkos they jumped at the opportunity.  The price was pretty high as the Canucks would send sniper Rick Nash and centre Ryan Kesler to the Rangers in exchange for Stamkos and Joffrey Lupul.  It should be well worth it as Stamkos provides the Canucks with another young sniper who is signed to a great deal for 3 seasons.  The Canuck do lose a little depth up front in the short term but with the additional cap space gained they hope to add another piece to their top 6.

Look for the Canucks continue to tweak their team to make a playoff run this season.
