Quiet Deadline Day for St. Louis - PRESS RELEASE

2011-05-03

*PRESS RELEASE*

The St. Louis Blues made a statement, although it might be thought of as a rather quiet one by the rest of the league, on deadline day by not making a single deal.  G.M. Finch had this to say in a press release made a few minutes ago, "Last season, after I took over as the acting GM, we got very busy making deals up to and on deadline day, all of which I believe helped our team greatly.  Eventhough we did not make it past the first round, we were able to make our way into the playoffs after a  very close battle.  Over the off-season, we kept working on the team, making more trades, signing more players, and bidding farewell to a few aswell.  All of this hard work appeared to pay off in the first half of this season stayed near the top of the conference and made a run at #1 in the league.  Following a salary cap violation, which resulted in a fine, our team sputtered and fell out of playoff contention all together.  It was clear that something had to give.  We began to deal players and picks for cash and some smaller contracts.  This small amount of tweaking seemed to do the trick, as we are now sitting 6th in the west.  As far as this year's deadline goes, we are very happy with the roster we have established and as was predicted in an article by the Boston GM, we felt it was in the best interest of the team to hold true and giv'er all we got with what we've got.  Bring it on!"

It appears as though they are ready for a battle, we shall see what unfolds...
