Wild Wild Wolf

2011-08-12

The Minnesota Wild have hired new general manager Eric Wolf. Reports indicate that Wolf was in talks with the Wild and another team in the MRFHL about a general manager position in which he ended up getting hired on board as the new man in charge of the Minnesota Wild.

Eric Wolf is no stranger to the MRFHL, he was once the GM of the Buffalo Sabres for two seasons before the 2008-2009 season. 3 seasons later Wolf has made a return, one he's been hoping for, for quite some time.

"I'm really excited to be back in the MRFHL. I never wanted to leave before but I had too many time constraints and not enough dedication to put into my former team. I felt it was unfair to the players and the organization. But after a 3 season hiatus, I am absolutely thrilled to be given another opportunity and to have a fresh start with a new team, the Minnesota Wild."

There were numerous reports of the former GM intending to blow the team up by trading all their superstars for young prospects and picks, however Wolf was quick to deny that would be his direction with the club. "I am aware the old GM had intentions of selling the team off this off-season and going into a major rebuild mode, but it's my team now and I want the fans to know that I will be holding onto our talent as much as I can because I believe we have a legitimate shot at winning the cup next season. That's our goal. We are contenders and our star players will be in Wild jerseys next season."
