Jason Blake agreed to a contract with the Rangers for 1 year. He was promised that this team would mend itself and acquire the players that could allow them to compete on a nightly basis. The team went out and re-tooled and are poised to make some real noise this year in the MRFHL.

Jason Blake is doing his part to help that process along. Through 4 games this pre-season, Jason has 4 goals and 4 assists. He's playing like a 10 year younger version of himself and is hoping to cash in on a much larger contract next year.

"When the time comes we will address that" Blake told us today. "We committed to the Rangers for this year based on some promises of making this team better. We are very happy with the changes made. This team is three lines deep in its ability to play any style of game. We have speed. We have snipers, we have play makers, we have grinders, and we have guys that can stand up for themselves in any situation. This team is so well rounded and so deep that we really like our chances to do some real good things this year."

Rangers GM chimed in on a possible extension for Blake "We are very thankful that JB agreed to the deal he agreed to. He took a little less on the salary (but made up for it on the Bonus) to help with our Cap situation. Regardless of the reasons he did so, he did and we felt obligated to reciprocate in that it shows him we are serious with our desire to win and it shows other players that when we make a commitment, we see it through. I can tell you that before the year is out, we will have conversations with Blake's reps regarding an extension and if we can, we will look to sign him to a mutually satisfying deal"
