Ottawa mid-term report 2010-01-14 (AP) Despite the outcry from fans over trading Ryan Getzlaf to the Pens, Ottawa Senators general manager Gary Brown seems to be pleased with his team as it nears the midpoint of the MRFHL season. "Well, we're three games over .500 and our aim is to make the playoffs this year. We think we can do it," Brown told reporters assembled at the Corel Centre press room. "Trading Getz no doubt was a public relations disaster, but we opted to go with Nicklas Backstrom as the number one pivot and he hasn't disappointed. People seem to forget that we didn't get enough scoring from the wings last year and it cost us. Devin Setoguchi (acquired for Getzlaf) now leads the team with 17 goals." As for defense, Brown said "We've got a pretty stellar defense. The guy who generates the most trade interest is Drew Doughty, who we believe in another couple of seasons will be compared with Denis Potvin as a game-changer." When asked about the goalie situation, Brown said "Look, we're waiting on (Cory) Schneider to be our Roberto Luongo. He's taking longer than we thought. In the meantime, both Boosh (Brian Boucher) and Clemmy (Scott Clemmensen) are keeping us in games we maybe should have lost. You just don't find a Marty Brodeur for sale at the grocery store."
