Offensive explosion

The New York Rangers played host to their cross town rivals the Islanders and erupted for 9 goals with Corey Perry breaking out of his mini slump with 5 goals on the evening. It was a career night for Perry and the most goals scored by the Rangers in one game in the last ten years

It got so bad for the Islanders that they pulled Ryan Miller for Emery in the 2nd period and then pulled Emery and re-inserted Miller at 2:40 into the 3rd period.

"Sometimes you have nights where everything you do works. It's not like the Islanders played a reall bad game, it just seemed that when ever we shot the puck it found twine. For me personally, I've had a few hat-tricks in my life, even a 4 goal game in Juniors, but to score 5 like I did tonight, well that felt nice but moreso because I was able to help the team win a game. You know, it's not all that long ago that we lost a few games in a row and it was important to get back on that winning track. This is a huge game in that sense."

Those were the words from Rangers sniper Corey Perry.

Rangers next play the Penguins at the Mellon Arena where they hope to continue their winning ways.
