Boston Bruins Annual Mid-Season Press Conference

2012-03-01

The Boston Bruins President of Hockey Operations and General Manage Steven Valente held his annual press conference today providing a mid-season update on the state of the franchise.

When asked about the current state of the team he responded :

“As I sit here today our current club sits 10 points out of a playoff spot and the fans, players, coaches and myself know this is unacceptable. I am not going to sugar coat it. We need to be better.”

The Boston Bruins woes continue and they have yet to snap out of the funk they have been in all season. With games running out in the season the Boston Bruins are a long shot to sneak in.

“With 44 GP this season we have greatly underachieved. We are not where we expected to be at this point in the season. Despite the struggles we have had I feel the group of guys in that locker room have grown together and gained valuable experience. This experience will pay off in the long run.”

Known to be active in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline one reported asked if he was considering moving out assets.

“I have received a couple of phone calls but nothing significant. Inquiry’s on the same group of kids nothing new there. As I have stated time and time again I am not shy making a deal which I feel will benefit the long term goal of this organization – and that’s to build a perennial winner.”

As GM Valente continues his pursuit of building a dynasty fans are eager to see his efforts translate into on ice success. The Bruins boast some of the finest talent in the minors but some wonder if it’s time to give them a shot in the MRFHL.

“I will be looking to make moves leading up to the trade deadline and there will be some significant changes coming. I will not mortgage the future in order to get into the playoffs.”
