Committed To Winning

2012-07-26

It seemed the Bruins General Manager had his hands full this off season. After a disastrous year at the helm where the team did not live up to expectations it was important to signal to fans they were committed to brining an MRFHL Championship to Boston.

The Boston Bruins have signed restricted free agent Shea Weber to a 4 year $31 million dollar contract.  “We felt Shea was an invaluable component in the future success of our organization. Locking Shea up for four more years was a no brainer.”

At press conference Shea was excited about his prospects of winning in Boston. “I enjoy playing the Boston, an original six team with a great history, I want to win and I want to bring a Cup to Boston. This team is brimming with talent and we feel we are a lot closer to a cup than we showed last season”

With Shea locked up, the Bruins turned their attention to a pair of mid season unrestricted free agent acquisitions. The Sedin twins, Henrik and Daniel were brought in for a package of youth, prospects and picks in an attempt to turn the team’s fortunes around.  Unfortunately, it was little too late as the Bruins finished outside of the playoffs.  With both Sedin’s slated to hit the open market Bruins GM made an offer and commitment to both of them. Bruins committed 30 million to each Sedin over the course of the next 4 years.

Both Sedin’s were impressed at the organizations commitment to win “I knew I wanted to play with my brother Hank and we both want to win. Those were two factors we considered. The Boston Bruins organization was the best fit for the both of us and we are looking forward to training camp.”

The Boston Bruins are sitting close to the cap and will likely be looking for relief.  It is likely Raffi Torres and Steve Eminger will be reporting to Providence when season begins.

It is speculated that the Bruins organization is looking to acquire another winger to play along side of the or on the Toews and Kane line. John Tavares whom also came into his own last season will likely see a lot of time on the PP unit.

With the draft taking place tonight the Boston Bruins will be working to meet some of their team needs. It is unknown who will be leaving Boston but you can be sure Bruins GM will be looking at all possible trade scenarios without sacrificing his keys to success.
