Gaborik stays in Ottawa

2012-08-02

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

The Ottawa Senators have announced that they have reached an agreement to resign sniper Marian Gaborik. The new contract pays Marian 19.5 million dollars over the next 3 years and will keep him in a Senators uniform until he reahces 33 years of age. GM Todd Westacott had the following comments about the resigning:

"Marian had been great for us since coming over from Pittsburgh towards the middle of last year and we knew that we wanted to make resigning him a priority. We believe that Marian is a star in this league that will do some great things for us."

With Gaborik now under contract the Senators can now turn their attention to the Free Agent market where they are expected to be big players considering the ammount of money they had come off the books at the end of the season. Ottawa is still also working on resigning Paul Stastny.
