Rangers acquire C/W

2012-08-13

After hearing the news that the Columbus BlueJackets were looking to move some salary, the Rangers made the call and terms were quickly agreed upon to get a deal done.

Heading to Columbus is prospect Rickard Rackell.

"We are still very much in the re-tooling phase of the process here in NY, and this deal dosn't change that. With some of the guys we have in the system now, guys like Lukas Sutter, Kerdilies and Tom Wilson, we felt comfortable moving Rakell who we think is going ot be a very good player in the MRFHL soon. However, getting Umberger, another hardworking player that is solid at both ends of the ice and versatile enough to play Center and Wing will help this team compete for the PO's this year."

"we have had conversations with the agents for two players that we think very highly of. We think that both guys can come in here and be very valuable assets and contribute to the betterment of the club. Both guys are solid citizens, both guys conduct themselves on the ice the way we want our youngsters to conduct themselves. Both guys are committed to team hockey and you can never have enough of those guys on your team. We hope they both see how their talents can positively impact this team and choose the Rangers"
