Canucks re-sign Nash and Byfuglien

2010-05-22

The Canucks have resigned two key RFA's to multi-year deals.  Both Rick Nash and Dustin Byfuglien have agreed to play for the Canucks for a couple more seasons.

Nash, one of the premier snipers in the league, played all 86 games for the Canucks and lead the team in goals this season with 46 while he  tallied 95 points in total.  The Canucks are hoping he can reproduce those kinds of numbers in the upcoming playoffs.  He will be an integral part of the team's future.

Byfuglien was aquired prior to the trade deadline.  Byfuglien is versatile player who can play both the wing and on the blueline.  At 6'-3", 250 lbs he is it is near impossible to push him around.  The Canucks are hoping he can use his frame to be the force he is projected to be.  Look for him to get more of a offensive role next season.

Both players add to the young core of players the Canucks have on their roster.
