After an unusually quiet entry draft for the Boston Bruins, GM Valente focused his attention to restricted free agents Nick Spaling, Matt Belesky, RIchard Panik and newley acquired Jonathan Bernier. It wasn't until late last night that GM Valente recieved word from Jonathan Bernier's agent he agreed to terms. Jonathan Bernier agreed to a 2 year deal worth approximatly $3.4. "We felt that although Jonathan made great strides this past season he still needs to earn the number one spot." It is expected Jonathan Bernier will be pushing to dethrone Ondrej Pavelec as the starting goaltender this season. Going into next season the Bruins could have the start of what could be a goalie controversey.

One of the top priorities since the off-season started for the Bruins GM has been continuing to acquire quality character role players to balance out third and fourth line. A key part of this was to retain the services of Matt Belesky and NIck Spaling. GM Valente was able to secure NIck Spaling to a 4 year deal which would pay him an estimated $1.3 million per year and Matt Belesky to a 4 year deal worth $1.1 million a season. A vote of confidence was also given to Richard Panik in a 4 year deal in hope he will continue to develop into a secondary scoring option.

Heading into Unrestricted Free Agency, top priority for the Bruins GM is to secure Henrik Zetterberg to a new contract. It is estimated that Henrik is seeking a 4 year deal upwards of $6 million dollars.
