Canucks sign UFA George Parros

George Parros stands out in a crowd with his flamboyant moustache.  However there is more to the man than his Tom Sellek looks.

On the ice Parros is known as one of the toughest players in the league. However not too many people know that in 2010 he was actually named one of the smartest athletes in sports by Sporting News.  He actually graduated from Princeton University where he majored in Economics.  While there he was also named captain of the Men's Hockey team in his senior year.

Off the ice Parros has put his moustache to good use as well.  While with the Anaheim Ducks, the team store sold replicas of Parros' moustache, with the proceeds going to charities.  He also create a line of apparel which he calls Stache Gear where proceeds also go to charities.

It is not only the hair on his face that he uses for benefits either.  He grows his hair annually and when it is long enough to cut off it is donated to a charity that makes wigs for sick children who have lost their hair.

Parros exemplifies what the Canucks expect out of all of their players both on and off the ice.  Along with his great work ethic and team leadership he also brings the experience of winning a cup.  The Canucks hope that he will hoist one wearing their jersey as well.
