Edmonton oilers prospect report

2020-01-23

While the oilers so far successful season has been a focal point in the depressing Alberta capital, GM Braithwaite remembered that it's important to focus on the future of the organization as well. So without further adieu, let's take a look at the kids in the organization.

Cody Glass(acquired via trade) - glass cracked the knights roster this year after being a question mark during the preseason. He's looking like a quality NHLer already and could find a next step to take his offensive game up a notch. He's notched 5-7-12 in 37 games this season. expected arrival on the oilers is 20-21.

Arthur kaliyev(drafted 17th overall in 2019) - kaliyev has lit the ohl on first registering 31-38-69 in 37 games this season. He also contributed 4-2-6 in 5 games at the WJC. A natural goal scorer always has a place in the nhl. Expected oilers arrival 22-23.

samuel dove Mcfalls - sucks

adam marsh - sucks

pavel dorofeyev( second round 2019) - is sticking with his KHL club this year and contributing with 7 points on the season in limited ice time. He also represented Russia at the WJC scoring 3-1-4 in 7 games. Will need some more time but has natural offensive instincts. Expected arrival 24-25.

Antii Saarela(4th round pick 2019)- playing in the Finnish men's league, saarela has taken a step back offensively this year but appears to be working on his all around game. Will need to continue to improve if he wants a future as a mainstay in a crowded oilers environment.

dmitri voronkov(drafted 5th round 2019) - has stuck with his khl club this year. Represented Russia at the WJC and showed that he can be a menace. In both a good way and a bad way. He led the tournament in penalty minutes. But contributed offense by positioning his body in front of the net and collecting rebounds. He led Russia in scoring for the tournament. Expected arrival 23-24.

Maxim mamin- he's gone and isn't ever coming back horrible advice To draft him Austin

Ben Jones - has had a slow start to his pro career. But Edmonton can be patient and allow him to figure out the pro game. A smart player who can figure out the bottom six in the nhl. Expected arrival 24-25

time to take a look at the defenceman

ty smith(draftee first round 2019) - a casualty of top good for junior, not good enough for the NHL. Smith is having another good year in the WHL and represented canada at the WJC. He's expected to make the devils next season. Expected  arrival 21-22

noah dobson(drafted first round 2019) - has been learning the pro game from Barrie trotz this season. Has been finding more ice time lately and also finding the scoresheet due to this. Dobson looks to be a future top pairing mainstay in Edmonton. Expected arrival 21-22

nicolas Beaudoin ( drafted first round 2019) - stepped into the pros this year to play for Rockford. He's been struggling to put up points as most young ahl defenceman do, but so has Rockford in general. Beaudoin has a good chance to be a PP specialist. Expected arrival 23-34

juuso valimaki(acquired via trade) - after a strong first season in Calgary, valimaki tore his ACL and will miss a large chunk of 2019-2020. We will have to reassess when he returns. Expected arrival 21-22

Mitch vande sompel(forget how I got him)- also has not played this season. We will assess when he returns. Expected arrival 22-23

daniil misyul(drafted 4th round 2019) - has quietly had a strong season. Represented Russia at the WJC winning a silver medal. He plays a good two way game but will need to improve more to become an impact player. Expected arrival 23-24

the oilers appear to be having success with their young goaltenders whom we will look at next.

ivan prosvetov( drafted 5th round 2018)- stepped into the coyotes organizations and posted a 932 and 2.28 in the ahl. Currently called up to get a taste of nhl action at just 20 years old. A strong start to his pro career. Expected arrival 23-24

Ian Scott(acquires via trade)- has been injured to start his pro career, will reassess when he returns. Expected arrival is unknown.

vadim zherenko(drafted 4th round 2019) - has been a rock in the MHL this season posting a 947 and 1.36, but will need more time to adapt to the men's league. With the pipeline of goalies and hellebuyck already in net. Edmonton can afford to be patient. Expected arrival 24-25

joel hofer(drafted 5th round 2018) - another strong season from hofer where he has posted a 932 and 2.03. He won top goaltender at the WJC posting a 946 and 1.30 on his way to a good medal. Among other goaltenders. Edmonton has their eyes on hofer for the future. Expected arrival 24-25.
