Capitals at the Trade Deadline
2022-03-24Well the deadline is less than a week away and the potential rentals on the Caps seem pretty secure. While the team is playing very well, some would say over their heads, the GM still seems ready to deal nearly a third of the team. Having eight players that are on their final contract year and pending UFA status, the team woud like to flip these folks for mid to lower draft picks or prospects. That would seen easy enough, with players like Bjugstad leading the team with 51 points, but to date no one has any interest. The rumour is that GM Slocum must have over valued his rentals and we will need to wait and see if anyone leaves before the deadline. But from everything we seen he is only lookiong for mid round (3-4) picks for some onf the players and later picks for the weaker players.
We will have to wait to see if anythng happens or wait and watch all these players go to free agency. In the meanwhile these players are ckeeping Washington right on the edge of making the playoffs.
