Hawks acquire Parenteau from Preds

The Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators hooked up on a minor deal this afternoon. The trade saw the Hawks acquire center Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau in exchange for a 5th round pick in this weekends entry draft. Parenteau has had a very succesful AHL career, but has yet to seize an opportunity for NHL success. "We see P-A as a player who could flourish under the right circumstances at the NHL level and our scouts believe that the player we are acquiring has a very high skill level, and the potential to put up points at the NHL level." Said GM Semonick.

The deal is somewhat surprising as traditionally the Hawks are very reluctant to deal away draft picks. Clearly the team sees something in the 27 year old Parenteau. In other news the Hawks are still working toward resolving the Milan Michalek situation, doing so by either trading the hold out winger, or signing him to an extension. Management is tight lipped at this point as to which scenario is more likely. It is also believed the Hawks are looking to add additional picks for Sunday's draft.
