Few if any changes in Ottawa

2010-08-25
(AP) When defector (to the KHL) Robert Nilsson is sold to Nashville for cash and boozehound Logan MacMillan is pawned to Edmonton for a fourth round pick serve as your only player personnel moves in the off-season, then life is pretty slow in Ottawa. The Senators are deep and they could dominate the east this season, led by nifty center Nicklas Backstrom and perennial Norris Trophy candidate Drew Doughty anchoring the blueline. This season might mark the debut of Cory Schneider between the pipes, though he'll have to wrestle with Brian Elliott for the starting role. The Senators have been built with solid draft selections and after another solid draft this summer, all indications are they will be a powerhouse in the years to come.
