Minor moves in D.C

2010-08-28

WASHIGTON, DC. After recently getting the GM spot in Wasington. Teams havent really had much interests in his best players. But has had alot of interests in his bottom 6 players. The main interests were Pisani and Metropolit. They brought in the most interests from all the teams. Hs first minor deal was with the Edmonton Oilers. The Capitals sent over Fernando Pisani for a 3rd in 2011 and a 4th in 2012. GM Claudio Martucci has some words to say about this trade.
" Pisani is a solid 3rd liner, but was going to play on the fourth line as Avery was taking his spot. Because of that, he wasnt going to get much playing time on the Caps and wasnt going to produce on the 4th line. The way the team is going, we want our youngsters to log some minutes and this trade opened up a hole for one of them to do so. It was a perfect oppurtunity and we took it. We wish Fernando the best in Oil city."

The second trade was sending Glen Metropolit to the Pens for Prospect Ryan Howse. After signing in the Swiss league, GM Claudio Martucci was going to use him until the Trade Deadline and get something in return for him. But it wasnt the case at the moment as teams were interested in him. This is what Claudio Martucci had to say about it. "Ryan Howse is a good prospect with potential. We will let him develop and hopefully he will be NHL ready in a few years. He will be ranked as our 12th best prospect. As of Metropolit. This season, he was going to be playing 3rd line with ball buster Sean Avery and Patrick Kaleta. We were looking at our roster and saw that Sobotka is ready to take his spot. Sobotka will finally have his chance and we hope it will work out."

Lines this season for the Capitals are:

(Still looking to fill) - Savard - Hemsky

Samsonov - Morrison - Brouwer

Avery - Sobotka - Kaleta

Marchand - Lundmark - C.Bourque

Jovanovski - E. Johnson

Morris - Tyutin

Exelby - Popovic

Giguere

Budaj

Players on the trading block for the Caps are:
