Captain Serious

2010-10-02

Going into the 2010-2011 season there were alot of questions surrounding the leadership of the Boston Bruins. With only a handful of pre-season games complete, the Boston Bruins took little time announcing their newest team Captain.

On Saturday night it was announced Jonathan Toews will be wearing the "C" for the Boston Bruins going into the 2010-2011 season. GM Valente explains "As an organization we felt Jonathan deserves this honour. He is a tremendous individual and a wonderful leader on and off the ice." The majority of Bruin fans applaud this move as Toews is the future of the franchise, however his biggest critics are the first to point out his age. GM Valente feels this is a non-issue as "he has experience in captaining teams from his world junior appearances, more importantly guys follow his lead in our locker room."

Key to Toews development on and off the ice will be veterans like Scott Gomez, Christian Ehrhoff and Mattias Ohlund.  Both Gomez and Ohlund will be looked to provide leadership and support, both will suit up the 2010-2011 season wearing the “A” on their jersey.
