New GM Found

2010-10-17

The Colorado Avalanche are pleased to announce the hiring of Tom Zapletal as the team's new General Manager.  Zapletal is familiar with running a Sim Hockey organization,
and is excited to be a part of this league.

"I really like the team that I am walking on to.  It's a solid group of guys that I see a lot of potential in."
Zapletal went on to say that there were a few untouchables on his team, but only for now until he gets comfortable with this league.
"I would like to build a team around certain guys I have in place."

Zach Parise, Paul Stastny, Marc Staal, Johnny Boychuk, as well as the goalie tandum of Marc-Andre Fleury and Jonathan Bernier appear to be the players Zapletal is reffering to.

The first order of business for GM Zapletal is attempting to find a legitimate #1 RW to play on the top line.  With a terrific cap situation and many good young players and picks, this
scenario could happen sooner than later.  Though there is no official trading block yet, all offers will be considered.

"I feel the best deals are the ones that work both ways.  I'm not here to screw anyone, I just want to make my team better as fast as possible."

He also stated that certain GM's will have inquiries shortly to see if certain players are available.  Zapletal has been known to be extremely trade-happy in the past, and this trend is
likely to continue with this Avalanche squad as well.
