On-going construction

2011-01-14

After the last presser by Rangers GM in December in which he indicated that if there were to many passengers on the bus that additional changes would be made, the Rangers have continued to tweak the line-up and since that day the Rangers have traded the following players

Out:  Blake Wheeler, Wayne Simmonds, Zach Parise, TJ Galiardi, Dan Girardi, Matt Moulson, Robyn Regher and prospect Zac Dalpe.

For the above players, the Rangers have received the following players:

In:  Thomas Vanek, Travis Zajac, Steve Ott, Rostislav Klesla, Alex Steen, Owen Nolan and Jason Spezza

"We know that our defence has taken a hit of sorts and we anticipate that that will be addressed in short order. We have a few irons in the fire right now and hope that we can address that deficiency in  our line-up"

****Breaking News****

The New York Rangers announce the acquisition of 2 defenceman.

Sheldon Souray and Brett Clark

Heading to Anaheim for Souray is center/winger Jochen Hecht

With the acquisition of Spezza, Jochen Hecht was advised that he would be traded. To be able to address our defence was a huge get for this franchise right now.

Prior to making the move for Souray we had initiated talks with New Jersey regarding Brett Clark. We were delighted to hear that they accepted out proposal of Steve Ott.

We feel that with these 2 moves today, we have addressed our defence.
