Wheeler joins Sens

2011-02-02
(AP) Goodbye Devin Setoguchi, hello Blake Wheeler. The Ottawa Senators millionaire owner Gary Brown, who doubles as team GM, traded Setoguchi to the Phoenix Coyotes in return for grinder winger Blake Wheeler. "Gooch (Setoguchi) is only 23 and has a terrific hockey career ahead of him. But we have scouted Wheels (Wheeler) and have concluded that he will be more of a grinder in the corners to feed the puck out to Stevie Weiss. He's also a stronger backchecker than Gooch is. But that is not a knock against Setoguchi," Brown told reporters. Brown also wanted to address trade issues with reporters. "I have received several trades requests for several of our young prospects, and most especially for Drew Doughty. There is no truth to the rumor that we want to trade Doughty. In fact, we don't want to trade any of our players during the season or even right before the trade deadline. I like our team and we are first in our division. I believe the Senators will go deep into the playoffs, so why would I want to break up our team chemistry? At the end of the season, we will look at personnel issues, but not now."
