Signed, sealed and waiting for the draft

2009-06-04

Rangers General Manager Phil Grote has announced the signings of three players.

"We are happy to announce that we have come to terms with the following three players. Forwards Dustin Penner and Radek Dvorak and Defenceman Corey Potter."

Terms of the deals have not been announced as per club policy.

"We wanted to make sure that heading into the draft, the only focus the front office had was who we were going to draft and how they were going to help this franchise, be that this year or next. We wanted to bring Radek Dvorak back as he provides such a steady influence in the locker room and on the ice. We anticipate having quite a few youngsters in the line-up and they need to see that calming presense as that translates to the rest of the team. Dustin Penner is a monster of a player and to have that big body on the walls and in front of the net is going to open the ice for our more skilled guys. He has the ability to play on any one of the top 3 lines and that flexibility is going to be such a benefit. Corey Potter is a defenceman that is on the cusp of making the jump to the NHL as a regular. He's been improving each year and we look forward to his continued growth this season."
