Panthers Draft Recap- Part 2 of 2( Continued....Still)

2009-06-30

Scouting Report:

A hard-working character player that is an aggressive player, who plays in all the dirty areas.  Jimmy drives the net with his stick on the ice and has good vision and can set-up plays with quick accurate passes.  He plays a defensively responsible game and gets in lanes and disrupts the attack. Jimmy has good hockey sense and has an untapped offensive upside.

Gm’s Note:

“Jimmy is sort of a similar situation to Beck.  He is projected to fit into the bottom 6 as he plays that kind of style and put up points.  Though the thing with Bubnick is that we haven’t seen it all from Jimmy and at any time he could explode and become a great scorer.  Now that would be nice but we’ll keep to our current expectations.  Also its good to note that out of him and his two older brothers who played in the WHL, he is the first to be drafted in the NHL.”

Scouting Report:

A big player with great speed. Accelerates really well and reaches full speed very fast. Fore-checks successfully and plays with good intensity. A natural sniper, with a fine scoring touch. Defense and passing game could use some improvement. Should play even more physical with his large frame.

Gm’s Note:

“ Viktor was an off the board pick for us, the 23 year old rights weren’t held by anyone so we took the chance and took him.  He could fill in for us next season which is nice to see.  He has really excelled at the College level and we were impressed and that was why we took him.  To have a pick in the 5th was vital for us as we can take a player like this, as we did with Didomenico last year.”
